The International Ukiyo-e Symposium consists of reports, symposia and special lectures on certain subjects. We invite two foreign scholars as special guest every year.
They give reports or lectures during the symposium. The subjects handled up to now have been such as "Ukiyo-e in Meiji", "Suzuki Harunobu", "Hiroshige", etc.
Ukiyo-e is a representative Japanese art and is known and enjoyed internationally
with collectors, scholars, and connoisseurs.
The International Ukiyo-e Society aims to continue the fine 35 year tradition of its predecessor,
The Japan Ukiyo-e Society , with a firm commitment to the study , conservation ,
and international communication of ukiyo-e.
The Society will strive to become the center of ukiyo-e research by publishing a journal, organizing symposiums and exhibitions, and serving as a source of a multitude of information regarding ukiyo-e.
Whether you are looking to learn more about ukiyo-e or its printmaking, or interested to approach from another academic field, we invite anyone interested in ukiyo-e to join our Society.
